The founders of Rein4ced invented a new material by blending in a limited amount of steel fibres in carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic laminates. This material increases the toughness and addresses the brittle fracture behaviour of traditional carbon fibre reinforced thermosets. Rein4ced is using this material to revolutionize the production of carbon bicycle frames allowing to re-shore production to Europe by using a new and highly automated process. Other applications are under development.
