Keystone Tower Systems is a spinoff of MIT and has developed and patented a highly efficient method to design and produce wind turbine towers using spiral welding in a proprietary fully automatic production process. The company offers the technology out of its own factory but is also rolling out the technology for in-field production using a mobile production line, enabling higher towers by eliminating transport restrictions.

“Few investment opportunities come as close to the core business and expertise of our partners: the hot rolled steel manufacturing capabilities of ArcelorMittal worldwide and the welding expertise of our welding engineers at OCAS. We are convinced Keystone is solving one of the major challenges the wind industry is currently facing: how to make high altitude wind cost efficient.”

A word from Keystone

  • From the start, we were impressed by Finindus's knowledge of the industry and the opportunity for collaboration. Within a few months of closing the investment, we are already pursuing several potential projects together with ArcelorMittal and OCAS. The Finindus team has been great to work with, and the deep knowledge of and connections within the steel industry have been extremely valuable in accelerating our company's development.
